Vegas Recap Day 4

Las Vegas, Nevada-

Here's a shotgun look at some of the standouts from Saturday's action:

Johnathan Reyes SG 5'10" HD Toros (SA Clark HS, 2017 )
In the Toros first game, he led them with 13 pts and key buckets in the 2nd half to help takeout Pangos Elite (CA). He continues to impress with his smarts and basketball IQ. Although the Toros fell by two points to Team AJ Price in their next game, trailing by as much as 15pts, Reyes caught fire and led the charge with bucket after bucket, tallying 15 more points on the night, and handing out 7 dimes. It was a valiant effort that fell just short.

Tim Holland PF 6'8" THP Elite (Cedar Ridge HS, 2017)
Was a force down low inside with their matchup against Chuck Hayes Basketball Saturday evening. Used his strong frame to back defenders down and rose on many occasions to throw down monstrous 2 handed dunks. He not only asserted himself on offense, but guarded the paint on defense with multiple swats and cleaned the glass regularly. Holland finished with 18 points in their win over Chuck Hayes.

Avery Sullivan PF 6'6" THP Elite (Pflugerville HS, 2017)
If dealing with Holland wasn't enough down low for opposing teams, Sullivan turned in a very solid performance as well. He used his body to play very physical, bang, and create space on the blocks. He shows great timing and quick leaping ability to get rebounds, multiple on the offensive end. He added 13pts in their win.

Shelby Adams SG 6'3" Nike D1Premier210 (Judson HS, 2017)
In a surpise performance that saw D1Premier go up by as many as 16 points in the 1st half, they ended up falling, 54-45, to Northwest Ohio. A bright spot was the play of Adams who tried to lead Premier back, putting in key shots from all over the filed. He knocked down 4 treys and finished with 23 pts in the loss.

Aundre Jenkins SG 6'2" Carter Elite 2017 (Roosevelt HS)
There were definitely some dicey calls and moments at the end of the Carter Elite game, as they fell 77-74 to Washington Elite. That didn't take away from Jenkins game high 23pt performance. He caught fire nailing 6 three pointers in the loss.

Javon Levi PG 5'10" Dallas Showtyme (Killeen Shoemaker HS, 2017)
The super quick PG from Killeen put on a show against arguably the best AAU program in the nation, Mac Irvin Fire EYBL (IL). The fire could not stay in front of him, or prevent him from dialing it up. He finished with 20+ points, and was effective getting to the hole when he wanted, knocking down multiple triples, and racking up assists as the lead facilitator. Levi was a big part in the Gorillas blowout win over Mac Irvin.

Leo Lara SG 6'3" STX Hoopsters (Santa Rosa HS, 2017)
8am games are always tough, even tougher when you draw a nationally known program like the Oakland Soldiers EYBL. That didn't stop Lara from going toe to toe with some of the best talent on the 'West Coast. He showed his quickness, hustle, and ability to make shots from wherever on the court. He led the Hoopsters charge, finishing with 16pts, hitting four three pointers.

Rayshawn Dotson PF 6'5" Texas Tigers Gold (Judson HS, 2017 )
Continued his very solid summer in Vegas. Was a monster in the paint and on the glass in their tight loss to Florida Elite, 57-55. He was unstoppable down low, scoring at will, pouring in 25pts and pulling down double digit boards. Undersized for the true low post, Dotson plays very smart, uses his body well, and is rarely out of position. In the paint and around the basket, he's automatic with a soft touch from 8-10 feet.
