About Our Leagues

Mission

Youth Baseball is offered through the Junior Deputy Baseball Program for ages 4-15 to players interested in participation.

Players must live in Little Rock or Maumelle and within Pulaski County.

Spring seasons typically last for a 10 weeks. Our season usually begins the first of April and continues through June. Post season tournament play is offered in several of our divisions.

Offered Programs

Rookie:
Designed for ages 4 to 6 years old.  In the 4 year old division, players will hit off a tee and learn the basic fundamentals of baseball.  In the 5 year old division, players will hit off of a tee while continuing to learn the fundamentals of the game.  Our 6 year old division is a coach pitch and tee hybrid league.  The Rookie League receives high praise from coaches, players, parents, and league officials. The Rookie League is an excellent way to continue teaching the fundamentals of the game and building player confidence.

Minor:

Competitive pitching machine league for ages 7-8. Among teammates of their own age and experience level, players continue building and refining their fundamental skills while they begin to understand game strategy. It is at the minor league level that players first experience post-season tournament competition, with state and regional levels of play.

*Cal Ripken managers and coaches will watch the Minor League season games to evaluate players that they may like to draft into their Cal Ripken organizations. Please read further for information about our Cal Ripken League.

Cal Ripken:

The most competitive and experienced level of Cal Ripken Baseball for 9 to 12 year old players. JD Cal Ripken Baseball is played under the Official Baseball Rules, but implements some special rules as necessary for the development and welfare of this young age group. The game is played on a 60-foot diamond (closed bases) with a pitching distance of 46 feet and a 70-foot diamond (open bases) with a pitching distance of 50 feet. In order to encourage the league to train more pitchers, there are rules that set the maximum number of innings a pitcher may pitch in a calendar week. Regulation games consist of six innings. Special base running rules are also in effect.

The Cal Ripken League consists of eight organizations with teams in two divisions of play. Managers and coaches from this league watch players during the Minor League season games in addition to watching evaluations held twice a year to determine the players that they might like to draft for their organization. These drafted players will continue to play for the organization until they reach the age of 13 when they are eligible for the Babe Ruth League.
